Taking Kerry’s camp taught me amazing things that I never would have known without her teaching me them and the other nine kids that took the camp, but now after the camp I can call them all my friends, how to not be frightened of the horses.
Some people think that the horse n rebel is just a general store and a horse camp but it is more then it appears. It’s a place to bond with others and a place to just relax on the porch and eat you lunch. Having that friendly and cozy dog missy sit on your lap as you socialize with the other.

Taking Kerry’s camp taught me amazing things that I never would have known without her teaching me them and the other nine kids that took the camp, but now after the camp I can call them all my friends, how to not be frightened of the horses. We could tell the horses are not just pets to her they are her family, and I don’t mean that they live right up the hill close type of family, I mean very deeply and forever imbedded in her heart forever and ever.

The camp was and I’m not lying here was the best choice of my life. Kerry’s camp was a great place to bond with other campers and just get to know them. Kerry was talking to me about how she’s thinking about building an indoor arena to ride in the winter. That to me and I’m sure it was to others “like a puppy for Christmas.” Now if she does build one you’ll be able to ride in the winter how cool is that!!!

Kerry’s camp is a memory I will never forget. I can remember one night me and a boy named Ryan stayed up all night talking about how camp and riding went that week. Just us talking got us a whole lot closer to each other. I think trust is a main part of Kerry’s camp. Trust the campers, trust the horses and trust yourself. Follow that code and follow your path. The horse n rebel is not just a general store and a horse camp its more then it appears to the naked eye.

Be one with the Earth and the Earth will be one with you.

Hi my name is Heidi Bierbo. I am Autunm Bierbo’s mother. My husband and I have tied our best to make sure our daughter had everything she needed. We were always a family that spent a lot of time together even though both my husband and I were disabled. Joe past away this March from CHF and diabetes. Out family hasn’t been the same since. I would love to see my daughter get her all time wish of learning more about horses. I grew up riding horses and that is probably where she got the nitch for horses. Autumn loves all animals and is very enthusiastic about them. I think she would benefit greatly I she had to opportunity to go to horse camp. It would be very healthy for her o get outside more around other kids and have fun. It has been a hard year and I think this could help her move forward and start enjoying life again. If Joe was here he would have said “we will do everything possible to make going to camp a reality for our daughter.” Thank you for your time. –Heidi Burbo, Summer 2011

We went camping, fishing, and to the racecar races. I spent a lot o time with my dad helping him and caring for him because he became sicker. He died on march 4th, 2011. I would like to do things outside again like be around horses. Ever since I can remember I have loved horses and wanted one. I collect horses and horse stuff. I rode my first horse when I was 6 months old with my papa. Once in a while I ride my Aunt Sherry’s horses. My wish is to have my own horse and horse farm. That is why I want to go to horse camp. Being at camp would be healthier than just sitting around and watching T.V. I want to spend my time taking care of horses this summer.

I think other people should come to camp because they can learn more about nature and hw to take care of a farm.

Leadership

Programming takes place on Sentinel Farms, owned by Kerry Kurt and Sonny Provetto. Kerry Kurt is a Registered Nurse with a Masters in Divinity and Sonny Provetto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a retired State Trooper.

Safety

Our goal is to maintain a 1:4 ratio of counselors to campers.

The camp is fully insured. We perform background checks on our staff and volunteers.

Expectations

Part of the camp focuses on teaching youth responsible farm behavior and farm safety which includes working with horses and other farm animals.

Because the expectations and rules are very clearly communicated both to and from the campers, thoughtful decision-making and personal accountability becomes instinctual; this includes moving between the buildings and how we conduct ourselves around the farm. Safety is our priority.

Our policy is non-discriminatory and respectful of each other, which includes different learning and communication styles.

Tuition and Scholarships

Tuition for a week at camp is $300.00 + and additional $50/week for meals which includes all lunches, snacks and drinks. Scholarships were granted last year through community donations and direct in-kind donations by Kerry Kurt and Sonny Provetto. The procedure for applying for a scholarship is to get in touch with Kerry at 377-1066. Scholarships are awarded based upon individual camper’s need.
